The Board voted to approve the expenditure up to $25,000. The project came in well under budget at $12,750. The new signs are now in place and look great! -Sabrina Robertson County Manager's Office 9/28/17 @ 9:30 a.m. - As of Wednesday, September 27th, a total of 19,049 cubic yards of storm debris has been collected in Nassau County. The contractor, CrowderGulf, currently has 8 haul trucks in operation. 7 are still located on Amelia Island and 1 truck has begun working west of the Shave Bridge to start addressing debris off the island. Other trucks will move off island as that area nears completion. This week, the contractor also began an assessment of all debris west of I-95 and is determining the best route for collection. We anticipate that the contractor will place additional haul trucks west of I-95 soon. Due to the widespread amount of debris, the contractor cannot provide an exact schedule for removal, however they began east and are working their way west. They are working 7 days per week from dawn until dusk in an effort to remove the debris quickly. Attached is a list of roads that the hauler has removed debris from so far, however please note that all of the listed roads may not be complete. Large limbs and logs may require additional equipment, therefore, this type of debris may be left behind at first pass. Once all roads have been completely cleared, the contractor will do one final pass to pick up debris that may have been placed in the right of way after their first pass or which may have accidentally been missed by the contractor. We have asked the contractor to provide this information periodically so that the public can see which areas they've cleared and hopefully help people determine as they are approaching their area. The best advice we can give is to just be ready and know that they will be to you as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact the County Manager's Office at (904) 530-6010 or email [email protected]. -Sabrina Robertson County Manager's Office 9/27/17 @ 10: 40 a.m. - Currently, both debris drop off locations are open seven days per week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. However, beginning Monday, October 2, 2017, the Hilliard drop off site will be closed during the week. Just a reminder that both drop off locations were established for citizens to drop off yard debris (no construction debris) and is FREE of charge with proof of residency. Per FEMA guidelines, debris cannot be bagged, nor can it be in any type of container. Contractors are not authorized to use these sites. Drop off sites are as follows:

Did you know that non-native plants are evasive and can cause harm to our local environment and our health? Just because you can find it locally in stores does not mean that it's safe to use in our region. We urge all citizens to famililarize themselves with the dangers related to invasive species and their impact on natural resources. Our local Cooperative Extension Offices has experts that can help you determine which types of plants are best for your landscape and their services are free!
