The Town of Hilliard and VFW Post 100095 are hosting Vietnam Voices, a 5-day event to pay tribute to the sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. Below is the schedule of events. At this time, they would like to ensure that every Vietnam Veteran gets a meal. If you know a Vietnam Veteran, please register them at this link so they can be honored at this special event.

The Town of Hilliard and VFW Post 10095 have partnered to bring "Vietnam Voices", a special program to honor Veterans in Nassau County. This will include a heartwarming display of the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall which will be placed at the Northeast Florida Fairgrounds from April 17 - April 21, 2025. The Vietnam Traveling Wall is a 3/5 scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. and honors the sacrifices made by those who served in the Vietnam War. Having it placed in Nassau County will give our community the opportunity to reflect, honor and remember. 

"Vietnam Voices" will also include a special Veteran Dinner on April 18, 2025 from 5:00-700 p.m. at the Callahan Fairgrounds. This heartfelt evening will feature a delicious meal provided by Mission BBQ and allow Veterans to come together, share stories and enjoy a memorable evening. 8/16/23 @ 10:00 a.m. - Are you a Nassau County Veteran who is interested in helping other local Veterans and their families? The Nassau County Clerk of Courts is currently seeking a second Veterans Service Officer. Please see below information from the Clerk of Courts website: 

"The Nassau County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller’s office has a unique opportunity for a local Veteran. Our county is growing, and we are adding a second Veteran’s Service Officer to our staff.

The VSO will assist veterans and their families in various ways, including providing direction, information and counseling regarding federal and state government benefits and assistance.

To be considered for this position, please note the following REQUIREMENTS. First, the candidate must be a veteran who served as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States who was separated from such service under honorable conditions. Secondly, the candidate must be certified by the Department of Veterans Affairs as meeting the requirements and qualifications prescribed by the department and must attend the State Veterans Officer Course and be certified as a CVSO by the Florida Division of Veterans Affairs within six months of hire.

10/24/19 @ 9:30 a.m. - At the October 14, 2019 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved an Interlocal Agreement between Nassau County, Baker County, Clay County, St. Johns County, and the City of Jacksonville joining a new multi-jurisdictional government entity to be known as the "Northeast Florida Fire Watch Council.

The Fire Watch Council will work together to combat the veteran suicide epidemic by establishing partnerships with local, state and federal agencies who work with veterans, non-profit organizations, and private donors to create programs aimed at supporting veterans in northeast Florida. The City of Jacksonville will serve as the home of the Fire Watch Program and will coordinate with surrounding counties to organize existing resources and provide one-on-one assistance to local veterans in need of crisis intervention. The program is expected to kick-off in early 2020.
