Pavement Management/Resurfacing Projects Beginning July 9th

6/29/18 @ 3:30 p.m.- During adoption of the FY 17/18 Budget, the Board of County Commissioners included $2 million for Pavement Management Projects. In March 2018, the Public Works Director provided a recommendation on roads to be resurfaced utilizing these funds. The roads approved by the Board are as follows:

BRYCEVILLE
Pine Oak Hammock Lane, Tustenugee Court, Pine Wind Lane, Countryside Acres Road, Old Wire Place & Stafford Road

CALLAHAN
Deer Run Road, Yellow Jacket Drive, Fawn Court, Hive Lane, Dogwood Court, Wetland Way, Bismark Road (paved portion only),Pinewood Court, Colson Road, Johnson Road, Roberts Road, White Road & Morgan Circle

HILLIARD
Kara Circle

YULEE
Miner Road, Peeples Road, Harry Green Road, Tinya Road & Madeline Road

FERNANDINA
Clements Road, Rainbow Acres Road & Tyson Road

Resurfacing projects are expected to begin on Monday, July 9th and run through the end of September. Traffic delays are expected but will be kept to a minimum.

OVERLAYS WILL BEGIN IN BRYCEVILLE, MOVE TO CALLAHAN, HILLIARD, YULEE, THEN BE COMPLETED IN FERNANDINA

Note: South 14th Street from Sadler Road to Amelia Island Parkway will be resurfaced beginning in the fall of 2018. It is not listed here because this project is not part of the Pavement Management Plan, but was approved as part of the Small County Road Assistance Program in which the State will be matching funds for the project. We realize a lot of residents have concerns about this portion of road so we thought we would share here as we are sure some readers would be concerned that it wasn't included on this list.

Press Advisory from Department of Health Related to Summer Safety

6/20/18 @ 3:15 p.m. - The Florida Department of Health has issued a Press Advisory which includes information on preventing Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis and accidental drownings, as well as tips on protecting yourself from the sun and heat.

Road Closure on Harts Road Scheduled for Thursday, June 21st and Friday, June 22nd

6/19/18 @ 11:10 a.m. - The portion of Harts Road between US Highway 17 and Airplane Lane will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21st and Friday, June 22nd. This closure is being conducted by Florida Power & Light and is necessary for installation of two concrete power poles.

County Surveying Unincorporated Beaches

6/14/2018

6/14/18 @ 2:00 p.m. - Nassau County has hired a local surveyor to conduct a survey of the erosion control line on the unincorporated beaches from Peters Point south to the State Park utilizing GPS technology. This will take place over the next few days. This process includes placement of colored PVC pipes which will be used to mark the erosion control line and allow surveyors to take photographs that clearly depict the areas east and west of the line. The pipes will be removed as the photos are taken.

The surveyor will be accompanied by a Sheriff Deputy and one County staff member who will ensure the best approach is being used to accomplish the County’s intent.

Gas Line Breach Near SR200 and Nassauville Road

UPDATED AT 11:05 A.M. - State Road 200 from the bridge to Chester Road is now closed. We will continue to post updates as they are received from the Sheriff's Office.

6/14/18 @ 10:50 a.m. - Emergency Management just announced that a gas line has been breached by construction equipment on State Road 200 at O'Neil-Scott Road. The Nassau County Sheriff's Office is assisting with traffic control however traffic is moving slowly. Try to avoid the area if you can. The Fire Rescue Hazmat specialist are also on the scene. Please be patient and cautious.
