As announced on October 27, 2025, CSX Railroad has notified Nassau County of upcoming railroad crossing closures for maintenance and repairs. This is a reminder that work in Nassau County will begin Monday, November 17, 2025.

While a tentative schedule has been provided, please keep in mind that adjustments may occur due to CSX's progress, weather, or other unforeseen factors. The good news is that CSX offers a fully interactive Google map where residents can view each impacted crossing and access daily, real-time updates. Simply click on any icon at any time to see the latest information. This is the quickest and most convenient way to stay informed and plan your travel accordingly.

We understand these temporary closures can be inconvenient, and while CSX and their contractor, Southern Commercial Development, determine the timing and locations of the repairs, the County fully supports their efforts to enhance rail safety and maintain critical infrastructure in our community. CSX and their contractor have been working closely with local law enforcement, emergency services, and the Nassau County School District to help minimize disruptions, maintain safe traffic flow and access for emergency services​, and ensure school bus routes continue to operate smoothly.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as this important work takes place. These short-term inconveniences lead to long-term safety and smoother travel for our entire community.

10/10/25 @ 2:00 p.m.

Nassau County has been notified by CSX that the work on this railroad crossing has been delayed. As a result, the crossing will not reopen today as originally planned. They have extended the closure through October 16, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.

10/3/25 @ 1:00 p.m. - CSX Railroad will be conducting emergency repairs to the railroad crossing on River Road at Brandies Avenue which will require a full closure from 8am on October 6 through 5pm on October 10, 2025. All closures are full and continuous until repairs are complete. 

Proposed detour: US 1 to Old Dixie Highway, to Bypass Road, to River Road.

CSX Transportation has scheduled an emergency track repair that will require a full closure of the following railroad crossing:

Ingham Rd (off Hwy 301 near Henry Smith Rd)
Closed starting Tuesday, July 15th at 8AM
Reopening estimated by Friday, July 18th at 8AM (weather dependent) 

This is a total closure—no traffic will be allowed across the track during this time. Detour signage will be in place. Please plan ahead, use alternate routes, and avoid the area if possible. Stay safe, Hilliard!

• CR 121 in Bryceville, FL – February 7, at 8:30 am --  Proposed Detour:  CR 121 to CR 119 to US 301.

12/18/23 @ 4:00 p.m. - CSX Transportation has announced a track maintenance project set to being on Monday, January 15, 2024. This project will include the resurfacing of the track bed on part of the CSX Nahunta subdivision.  

Below is the message provided by CSX
"This 2-week project begins on 1/15/24 and ends on/around 1/26/24.  It impacts the following counties: Bryan County, Liberty County, Long County, and Wayne County, all in GA.  It also impacts Nassau County and Duval County, both in FL. These dates are HIGHLY subject to change with or without notice simply due to many unforeseen circumstances that can occur in the field once the work begins. Crossings will be closed anywhere from 2-5 days, depending on the type of maintenance set to receive. However with the one way in/out crossings, we will work as hard as possible to have those accessible within a 24-hour period (or less)."

While there was an extensive list of crossings affected, the only one in Nassau County is on Ratliff Road (shown on the below aerial map). They are estimating the closure to be on or around January 24, 2024.

8/10/23 @ 1:30 p.m. - The County has received notification from CSX Transportation that the railroad crossing on Braddock Road (near Renegade Lane) will be closed from Tuesday, August 15 - Friday, August 18 for emergency repairs. Signage will be placed in the vicinity. Motorists should anticipate extended travel times and delays.

3/22/22 @ 11:15 a.m. - The County was informed yesterday that CSX Railroad is planning a closure to the railroad crossing on William Burgess Blvd for repairs. They have not given exact dates but have indicated that it could start as soon as tomorrow, Wednesday, March 23rd, or as late as Monday, March 28th. The work will take several days to complete. CSX's contractor, Southern Commercial Development, is in the process of placing message boards in the area.

Motorists will be asked to utilize William Burgess Blvd. from State Road 200 or Harts Road to access the area.
