Tax Collector
As many of you know, the Tax Collector is responsible for the collection of ad valorem (property) taxes levied by the Board of County Commissioners, tangible property taxes and other taxes set, including those set by special taxing authorities. But did you know that the Tax Collector's Office also offers a variety of other services to Nassau County residents including issuance of motor vehicle registration, drivers licenses, concealed weapons permits, hunting and fishing licenses and mobile home registrations?
Looking to obtain a copy of your birth certificate? The Tax Collector's Office can help with that too! In partnership with the Florida Department of Health's Bureau of Vital Statistics, the Tax Collector's Office can access the State data base and issue certified copies of Florida birth certificates while you wait.
Your current Tax Collector is John M. Drew, a lifelong resident of Nassau County. Mr. Drew was elected originally in 2006 and has been re-elected every four years since then. His education includes a Bachelors and Masters Degree from Jacksonville University.
Since becoming Tax Collector, Mr. Drew has increased efficiency at their four locations by cross-training staff members to process all transaction types. This allows each staff member to perform a variety of transactions for their customers and allows customers to have all their needs met by one person rather than having to wait in separate lines for each individual service. Unlike many of their counterparts, the Nassau County Tax Collector's office commonly receives praise from members of the community for their quick, friendly, and efficient customer service.
We appreciate the hard working men and women of the Tax Collector's Office and commend them on providing excellent customer service to our community members.
