11/21/22 @ 4:00 p.m. - Today, County Manager Taco Pope and County Commissioner Jeff Gray had the honor of being "celebrity servers" at the Council on Aging's annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Mr. Pope spent his time in the kitchen carving the turkey and Commissioner Gray was on the floor serving plates and mingling with the guests.

There were other "celebrity guests" in attendance including, but not limited to, Senator Aaron Bean; City Manager, Dale Martin; City Commissioner, Bradley Bean; and NewsLeader Editor, Tracy Dishman.

A great time was had by all! A big thank you to the Council on Aging for coordinating this event and allowing us to be a part of it.

11/18/22 @ 9:00 am.

5 lucky dogs and 1 lucky cat were able to leave the shelter yesterday to spend some time with the nice folks at Nassau County Emergency Management. The dogs got to play in the grass and gave lots of kisses to the staff. The sweet little kitty, Tofu, was also a big hit with the staff and she enjoyed snuggling with the ladies in the office. Ans we are super excited to announce that she found a new home with Martha! Thank you Martha for adopting her and giving her a furever home.

If you are interested in adopting a pet, please visit Nassau County Animal Services located at 86078 License Road (across from Target). The are open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am-5pm; Wednesdays from 1pm-7pm; Fridays from 11am-5pm; and Saturdays from 11am-4pm.

If you have any questions, you can reach Animal Services at (904) 530-6150.

Nassau Pride Releases Season Schedule

11/17/2022

Picture
11/17/22 @ 11:15 a.m.  - Did you know that Nassau County has its very own professional American Basketball Association League Team?

The Nassau Pride was founded by Darrin Eakins and Dr. Jeremy Coleman, two local entrepreneurs who wanted to provide a new level of sports and entertainment to Nassau County and to bring together a diverse group of sports enthusiasts throughout Northeast Florida. The team roster features professional and college athletes.

On Monday, September 9, 2019, the Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution No. 2019-137 welcoming the Nassau Pride to Nassau County and extending their best wishes on their opening season. Since then, Nassau Pride has hosted several successful seasons (their efforts were put on hold during the pandemic) and have been providing fun for families and basketball fans ever since.

If you haven't been to a Nassau Pride game, you are missing out! Games are held on Saturdays and feature live music, half-time entertainment and games, concessions, team apparel for purchase, and skilled basketball by players who often take time to interact with the guests.

Their first game is this Saturday, November 19th at 6pm at the Yulee High School Gym. Check out their 22/23 schedule for future dates, times and locations. Additional information about the team can be found on their website at www.nassaupride.com.
