Nassau County Elections Closures, Cancellations and Deadline Extensions

11/9/22 @ 10:00 p.m. - At approximately 11:55 a.m. today, OneNassau issued Press Release #5 regarding administrative offices being closed on Thursday, November 10, 2022, due to the impacts of Tropical Storm Nicole. That release included language that "the Nassau County Supervisor of Elections' Office and the Canvasing Board will continue operations as previously scheduled. Public access for election activities remains open".

Please note that at approximately 8:00 p.m. this evening, the Supervisor of Elections issued the attached Press Release indicating that their office will now be closed and canvassing board activities that were previously scheduled for Thursday, November 10th are being postponed, in accordance with the Governor's Executive Orders 22-253 and 22-255, issued on November 9, 2022. 

The Supervisor of Elections and other County Offices are closed Friday, November 11th in observance of Veterans Day, however the Supervisor of Elections will open on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. to conduct post-election activities.

Congratulations New Commissioners

8/24/22 @ 8:40 a.m. - As a result of the Primary Election, we will have two (2) new Commissioners serving us in November. Please join us in congratulating A.M. "Hupp" Huppman (representing District 2) and Alyson McCullough (representing District 4). 

Each Commissioner will organize their own "swearing in" ceremony in which they will take their Oath of Office and begin their four year term. Information on those dates and locations will be shared as soon as the information is received by the County Manager's Office.

Early Voting Begins Tomorrow

8/9/22 @ 9:15 a.m. - Early voting for the 2022 Primary Election begins tomorrow, Wednesday, August 10, 2022 and will continue through August 20, 2022, from 9am - 6pm daily, including Saturdays and Sundays. As long as you are registered to vote, you can vote at any Early Voting site that is listed below. This is different from Election Day voting when you must vote in the polling place assigned to your precinct. 

Early Voting Sites:
  • Atlantic Recreation Center, 2500 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034
  • Hilliard Community Center, 37177 Pecan Street, Hilliard, FL 32046
  • James S. Page Governmental Complex, 96135 Nassau Place, Yulee, FL 32097
  • Walter Junior Boatright County Building, 45401 Mickler Street, Callahan, FL 32011
  • Yulee Sports Complex, 86142 Goodbread Road, Yulee, FL 32097

What to Bring to the Voting Site: 
According to the Supervisor of Elections website, you are required to bring one or two forms of identification that include your signature or photo. Without proper identification, you may still vote a provisional ballot, which will later be evaluated by a canvassing board for eligibility. Any of the following forms of photo identification are acceptable:
  • Florida Driver License
  • Florida ID Card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
  • U.S. Passport
  • Debit or Credit Card
  • Military ID
  • Student ID
  • Retirement Center ID 
  • Neighborhood Association ID 
  • Public Assistance ID
  • Veteran Health ID (issued by VA)
  • Concealed Weapon License (issued pursuant to s. 790.06)
  • Government Employee ID. If your photo ID does not include your signature, you will be asked to provide another ID that has your signature.

You should also bring your sample ballot to the polling place with notes on how you plan to vote. By making your voting decisions before going to the polling place, you help keep the lines down.

5/31/22 @ 1:40 p .m. - The Nassau County Supervisor of Elections released the below statement today notifying residents that new voter registration cards are being mailed out this week as a result of the decennial redistricting and new district boundaries.

Message from the Supervisor of Elections:
If you are a registered voter in Nassau County, you will receive a new voter information card this week. This mailing results from decennial redistricting and drawing new precinct lines, so your polling place may have changed.

Vicki Cannon Recognized for Service to the County

12/17/20 @ 11:30 a.m. - At yesterday's meeting, the Board of County Commissioners presented Resolution No. 2020-202 and a plaque to Vicki P. Cannon for her service to the citizens as Supervisor of Elections.

Ms. Cannon served five consecutive terms from January 2, 2001 through January 4, 2021. During her tenure, she served on a panel of seven Florida Supervisor of Elections to advise the State Affairs Committee and Oversight Transparency and the Public Management Subcommittee of the Florida House of Representatives. She was also appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to serve on the Restoration of Voting Rights Work Group. She holds a Certification as a State of Florida Election Administrator and is a Certified Municipal Clerk from the Institute of Government, Florida State University.

Ms. Cannon gave unsparingly of her time and energy to ensure that voters have knowledge in election procedures and that elections were done securely and in compliance with local, state and federal law.

Ms. Cannon will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of working for her and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.
