9/28/17 @ 9:30 a.m. - As of Wednesday, September 27th, a total of 19,049 cubic yards of storm debris has been collected in Nassau County. The contractor, CrowderGulf, currently has 8 haul trucks in operation. 7 are still located on Amelia Island and 1 truck has begun working west of the Shave Bridge to start addressing debris off the island. Other trucks will move off island as that area nears completion.

This week, the contractor also began an assessment of all debris west of I-95 and is determining the best route for collection. We anticipate that the contractor will place additional haul trucks west of I-95 soon.

Due to the widespread amount of debris, the contractor cannot provide an exact schedule for removal, however they began east and are working their way west. They are working 7 days per week from dawn until dusk in an effort to remove the debris quickly. Attached is a list of roads that the hauler has removed debris from so far, however please note that all of the listed roads may not be complete. Large limbs and logs may require additional equipment, therefore, this type of debris may be left behind at first pass. Once all roads have been completely cleared, the contractor will do one final pass to pick up debris that may have been placed in the right of way after their first pass  or which may have accidentally been missed by the contractor.

We have asked the contractor to provide this information periodically so that the public can see which areas they've cleared and hopefully help people determine as they are approaching their area. The best advice we can give is to just be ready and know that they will be to you as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact the County Manager's Office at (904) 530-6010 or email contact@nassaucountyfl.com.

This street clean-up list Spanish Oaks Circle. There remains large tree clean-up to be done around Spanish Oaks Circle as many homes could not get the trees removed removed from their property due to lack of contractors to cut down trees that were blown over. Please ask the clean-up contractor to revisit this area.

They are not finished yet. This is simply of roads that they have made a pass on. In one of the previous stories, we notified everyone that large items may be passed but that they would return with other equipment if needed. I'm going to revise this story to include that information again.
Thank you.

I failed to mention that the contractor does plan to do a second pass on all county roads after the first pass has been completed. This is to make sure we get those who took longer to get their debris to the right-of-way or to pick up piles that were overlooked on the first pass.

Any updates on the timeframe for debris removal for county residents on Amelia Island? I know crews are working constantly, so this isn’t a complaint. I just am curious when I can expect (in general) everything removed from my street.

It's very hard to say however I can tell you that they currently have 7 haul trucks assigned to the island and they are working as quickly as they can. Some larger piles of debris are taking several trips and every time they leave a road and return to pick up the smaller piles, residents have placed additional debris where they've already cleared. This is making it very difficult for the contractor to clear entire roads.
