Your local County Extension Office is available for questions or concerns at (904) 530-6350. -Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer 12/22/22 @ 4:00 p.m. - Below are pictures from the week of December 16 - December 23, 2022. -Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer 12/22/22 @ 8:30 a.m. - The Florida Department of Health in Nassau County (DOH-Nassau) has issued a rabies alert for the Yulee area in response to a raccoon that tested positive. The alert will remain in place for 60 days. During this time, residents are urged to ensure that pets and live-stock are up to date on vaccinations and to not let pets run freely.

A total of 8 departments participated to help spread Christmas cheer and all were so creative and festive! Below are all the entries. -Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer 12/21/22 @ 2:50 p.m. - At today's meeting, the Board of County Commissioners recognized Engineer Edward McLarty on 35 years of service. Mr. McLarty currently serves the residents from Nassau County Fire Rescue Station 20. In addition to responding to emergency calls for service, Mr. McLarty is an apparatus operator who is responsible for the safe operation of our vehicles and ensuring that the vehicles are well-stock with supplies needed for an emergency call. We appreciate Engineer McLarty and commend him on his service and dedication to Nassau County and its residents. -Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer 12/21/22 @ 10:00 a.m. - We are honored to have participated in Leadership Nassau, Class 22's Government and Policy Day last week. The class began their day with a Touch-a-Truck event where they learned all about the County's new Animal Services truck, ladder truck, rescue unit, fire engine, vacuum truck, road grader, and bucket truck. Later, they convened in the County's Commission Chambers where they heard from Elected Officials at the local, state and federal levels, as well as other City and County Government Officials. Below are some photos we captured from the day. We look forward to participating in future Leadership Nassau events and learning more about our future County leaders! -Sabrina Robertson Public Information Officer 12/20/22 @ 3:05 p.m. - If you are a Nassau County homeowner that needs assistance replacing the batteries in your smoke detector, please contact Nassau County Fires rescue to request a battery replacement. Nassau County Fire Rescue will provide you with the batteries and replace them for you at no-cost (while supplies last). Please note this offer applies to homeowners only (no rentals or commercial properties). The purpose of this Board is to hear and decide on appeals of decisions and code interpretations made by the Building Official and the Fire Official relating to the Florida Building Codes, National Electric Codes, Fire Codes and the Unsafe Building Abatement Ordinance. To be considered, you must meet the following criteria:
The Board tentatively meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6pm, unless there are no cases to be heard. Members serve 2 year terms and are required to file financial disclosure annually. Members do not receive compensation for their time and/or travel expenses. If you are interested in serving, please submit a resume with a cover letter expressing your desire to serve by the close of business on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
