3/26/18 @ 11:30 a.m. - The week of April 2 through April 8, 2018 is National Public Health Week. To celebrate, the Florida Department of Health will host a viewing of the film "Resilience - the Biology of Stress and Science of Hope" at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Wildlight Elementary Cafeteria located at 550 Curiosity Avenue, Yulee,

According to the attached Press Release issued by the Health Department, the documentary is regarding Adverse Childhood Events (ACEs) and their impact on health. Healthy Start Program Manager, Valerie Eldridge, states, "Through the Nassau Infant Mortality Taskforce, local service providers are examining how ACEs affect maternal and infant health outcomes and are developing strategies to prevent and to intervene when ACEs occur. The first step to lowering the occurrence of ACEs and caring for those who have experienced them, is community awareness and education. Screening the documentary, Resilience, aligns with that goal".

Light refreshments and information on local resources will be available at this free event. If you have any questions, please contact the Nassau County Health Department at (904) 875-6100.

Update on Concerns Related to Raydient and the ENCPA

3/22/2018

3/22/18 @ 11:30 a.m. - At yesterday's meeting in regular session, the Board of County Commissioners discussed the ongoing issues related to Raydient, the Stewardship District, and funding of public recreation space to accommodate growth associated with the East Nassau Community Planning Area (ENCPA).

The Board has held several public meetings, all of which Raydient and ENCPA representatives have been invited to participate in. However, to date, representatives have not attended any meetings. There have been multiple exchanges between all parties including letters, media releases, etc., however there have been no face to face discussions. The Board decided yesterday that they to no longer wish to engage in these type of exchanges.

We have created a link on our website which includes some information related to the County's position on this issue. All documents and videos supporting the County's views have been posted there for the residents and media to review and use to make their own determination.

The Board still hopes to meet with representatives of Raydient and the ENCPA to resolve this matter. Until then, the County will maintain their position that Raydient and the ENCPA made commitments to the County that they no longer wish to honor.
