At a Special Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners at 1:00 p.m. today, the Board received an update from Emergency Management Director, Billy Estep. At this time, a mandatory evacuation has been issued for those residing in Zones A, C, and F beginning at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. Citizens are urged to begin leaving as soon as possible due to the number of residents evacuating, construction on SR200 and incoming rain bands. An evacuation zone map is attached however if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Emergency Operations Center at (904) 548-0900. Please save this number as it will be your primary point of contact over the next few days!

Nassau County Schools and Government Offices will closed on Thursday, October 6th and Friday, October 7th, however Emergency personnel will be on duty. The Historic Courthouse will be closed on Thursday, however please be advised that the Judicial Complex/Courthouse will remain open until noon on Thursday in order for them to hold Criminal Court.

Nassau County will begin having hurricane force winds mid-morning on Friday and the Shave Bridge will close once there are sustained (continuous) winds of 45mph. It is important that everyone on Amelia Island be evacuated before this occurs.

Emergency shelters will open at the following locations beginning tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday:
