Steve Kelley served two four-year terms as County Commissioner for District Two from November 2010 through November 2018. He also served as Vice Chairman of the Board in 2017. He represented the County on numerous boards including the Local Disadvantaged Transportation Board, the Mental Health Court Committee, the Value Adjustment Board, the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Committee, and the Nassau County Canvassing Board.
Steve was a true public servant who further served his community through his work with various non-profit organizations. He was a member of the Amelia Lodge #47 of the Free and Accepted Masons, a member of the Fernandina Beach Shrine Club, a founding member of the Fernandina Beach Optimist Club, and an associate member of the Federated Republican Women of Nassau County. He also volunteered with the Lions Club, Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army, Nassau County Council on Aging, the Shriners Hospital, Boys Scouts, and many, many others. Perhaps he is most well-known for the legendary Oyster Road he held every December at his business, Kelley Pest Control, where he collected hundred of toys for Joy to the Children.
Recognizing Steve's great contributions to Nassau County, the Board of County Commissioners voted to rename Nassau Center Place in Steve's honor at the November 17, 2021 meeting.
