Intense or excessive rainfall can overflow canals and ditches, causing streets to flood.
According to NOAA, flooding claims the lives of 95 people each year and half of those are drownings that result from vehicles caught in flood waters and then swept downstream.
If you approach a flooded roadway, remember to "turn around, don't drown".
