This morning, Commissioner Justin Taylor, OMB Director/Assistant County Manager, Justin Stankiewicz, Public Works Director, Becky Bray, and Katherine Woodby of Representative Cord Byrd's Office met with representatives of the Army Corps at Thomas Creek. During this meeting, they were able to physically observe problems in the creek and strategize about the next steps to address the issues.
In addition to the future study, the County has also applied for an Emergency Watershed Grant to remove fallen debris and trees caused by Hurricane Irma. If approved, this grant would require a 25% match from the County which is estimated at approximately $177,000. The Board has already approved the match and is awaiting notification of whether or not the grant request has been approved. More to follow at a later time.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Public Works Director, Becky Bray, at (904) 530-6225 or via email at [email protected].
