9/18/19 @ 11:00 a.m. - On Friday, September 13, 2019, Robert T. Companion accepted the position of County Engineer. Mr. Companion had been serving as Senior Transportation Engineer for Nassau County since September 2018 and previously worked as Nassau County's CADD Technician for 3 years before leaving for a job in the private sector.
Mr. Companion's education includes an Associate of Science Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) from ITT Technical Institute, as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of North Florida. Mr. Companion also maintains certifications in Professional Engineering from the State of Florida and as a Certified CADD Professional from AutoCad.
Mr. Companion's work experience includes over a decade of roadway and development design experience in both the private and government sectors. He also taught STEM classes focused on drafting and design to Nassau County middle and high school students for nearly 10 years, helping students earn high school credits and industry recognized AutoDesk AutoCAD User Certifications.
County Manager, Mike Mullin, stated, "We are happy that Robert has accepted this position. In the last year, Robert has quickly become a valued member of our team. I am certain he has the skills and expertise needed to lead the Engineering Department effectively".
