On Wednesday, April 20, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners presented a Resolution to Dale Burkett in appreciation of nearly 33 years of outstanding service. Dale began his employment with Nassau County on July 5, 1983, as a Maintenance Helper in the Road & Bridge Department. From 1983 to 2003, Dale received numerous promotions, serving as Truck Driver, a Vehicle Serviceman, an Equipment Operator I, and Equipment Operator II, and a Foreman.
In October 2003, Dale was promoted to a Road & Bridge Supervisor position and spent the next eight years planning, organizing and supervising personnel engaged in construction, maintenance and repair of roads, bridges, rights-of-ways, and drainage structures. In April 2011, Dale was promoted to a Road & Bridge Operations Supervisor where he performed supervisory duties related to the directing and coordinating of maintenance and repair operations of the Road & Bridge Division, and remained on-call twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week. Dale often went above and beyond the call of duty and could always be counted on to a job done quickly and efficiently. He provided valuable knowledge, guidance, and leadership to his co-workers and those under his supervision.
Dale announced his retirement effective Friday, April 22, 2016, and will be greatly missed by those who had the honor to work with him, as well as the citizens of Nassau County. We wish Dale continued success, happiness, and health in the years to come.
