10/4/17 @ 4:40 p.m. - Since the contractor began picking up debris on September 18th, they have encountered many piles of debris mixed with bags or containers. As indicated in earlier articles and press releases, BAGGED DEBRIS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP. If you have bags or containers mixed into your debris piles, the contractor will not remove any debris from the site. FEMA has very strict guidelines about debris removal and the contractor must be able to see what is being picked up to ensure non-authorized items are not being mixed in.
If you have debris that has already been bagged, you may contact your regular garbage hauler and request a special pickup. Your hauler will charge you for this service.
