In addition to knowing your flood zone and purchasing flood insurance, you can further reduce your risk by making small improvements to your home or business.
Attached is a flyer from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) which outlines low-cost projects you can do yourself to protect your property. Examples include cleaning gutters and downspouts, installing a rain barrel, and elevating electrical system components, just to name a few.
