Please join us for our summer kick-off celebration on Saturday, May 18th, 2024, from 10am to 4pm at Main Beach Park (32 N Fletcher Ave) in Fernandina Beach. This FREE, family-friendly event will feature activities for all ages including a Kids Zone, Touch-a-Truck, Skateboard Competition, Food Trucks, and a Beer Garden!
Featured on the music stage – brought to you by “The Amelia” - will be live music by local favorites, The Honey Badgers, along with special guests Laid Back and The Liberty Blues Band. Special thank you to our partners the Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau and the City of Fernandina Beach.
Even more exciting is that our Opening of the Beaches Event is being paired with the 15th Annual Wild Amelia Nature Festival, brought to you by Keep Nassau Beautiful, which will include exhibits and live animals at the Wild Amelia Eco-Expo.
Taking place further south from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Peters Point (4600 Peters Point Road) will be the Isle of 8K Beach Run, presented by the Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau. The cost to participate in the 8K is $35. Register online at https://nassaufl.co/Isleof8KBeachRun24.
Commission Chairman John Martin stated, “We are excited about our Opening of the Beaches Event as we continue celebrating Nassau County’s unique history, while working with the community to help sculpt our future through the Nassau Vision 2050 exercise. What better way to kick-off summer than with a day of fun in the sun? We look forward to celebrating with the community at this event, as well as future events throughout the year”.
While attending Opening of the Beaches, please be sure to stop by our Nassau Vision 2050 tent as we collect community feedback that will help us plan for the next 25 years. This is your opportunity to help chart the future of Nassau County. You can even win some cool swag!
