The National Association of Counties (NACo) has proclaimed April as National County Government Month. Each day this month, we will provide different facts about Nassau County, including information about its history, services provided and more.
Today, we would like to share information about the County's recycling program. The Board of County Commissioners is committed to ensuring a clean and healthy environment for its residents. One way this is accomplished is by providing opportunities for residents to recycle materials easily. Currently, Nassau County has recycling bins at 3 locations, all of which are free to use. Below you will find information on each site and items accepted there:
Yulee Site:
86200 Gene Lasserre Blvd., Yulee
Bryceville Site:
7282 Motes Road, Bryceville
Each of these sites accept office paper; newspaper; magazines; clear, brown and green glass; plastics #1 and #2; and broken down cardboard.
Convenience Recycle Center:
46026 Landfill Road, Callahan
This site also collects paper; newspaper; magazines; clear, brown and green glass; plastics #1 and #2; and broken down cardboard. In addition to these items, the site also accepts (at no-charge):
- Bagged residential household trash
- White goods (washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, etc.)
- Scrap metal
- Electronics
- Latex paint
- Household goods (mattresses, clothing, furniture, children's toys, etc.)
- Tires (car/pickup truck tires. Max size P265/75R16) Tires must be off the rim and free of debris. Each household is limited to 4 tires per year.
Nassau County Solid Waste also hosts multiple recycling events each year to assist in disposal of toxic items that are harmful to the environment and should not be thrown into the landfill. Each spring and fall, the County hosts a Hazardous Waste Recycling Event and a Waste Tire Recycling event to encourage residents to dispose of these items properly.
We appreciate the hard working employees of Nassau County Solid Waste for their service to the residents and for their dedication in providing recycling opportunities for the community.
