6/21/17 @ 3:00 p.m. - Nassau County is excited to receive a received a plaque from FEMA today for successfully completing the necessary steps to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program's Community Rating System. The Community Rating System is a voluntary incentive program that recognizes and encourages community floodplain management activities that exceed minimum requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program.
Now that Nassau County has been approved to participate, property owners in the unincorporated areas of the County who reside in the Special Flood Hazard Area can enjoy a 10% reduction in flood insurance premiums for policies issued or renewed on or after May 1, 2017.
