Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can cause severe damage to the tissue and organs in the body, and in some cases, death. More than 5 million people worldwide suffer from this disease, several of which live right here in Nassau County. Medical research efforts into Lupus are underfunded in comparison with diseases of this magnitude and many people live with the symptoms of Lupus for years before obtaining a correct diagnosis. There is an unmet need to raise awareness for this debilitating disease.
If you or someone you know has been affected by Lupus, please consider attending the Board Meeting Monday night to hear the reading of the Resolution. All citizens are also urged to "Put on Purple" on Friday, May 15th to help raise awareness and show support for those suffering from Lupus.
Board of County Commissioner meetings are held in the James Page Governmental Complex located at 96135 Nassau Place, Yulee, FL 32097. For more information or for directions, please call the County Manager's Office at (904) 530-6010.
