We would also like to take this opportunity to let everyone know that FDOT is aware of the concerns the community has regarding the widening project and are continuously looking for ways to keep delays at a minimum. FDOT has clauses in their contract that prevents contractors from closing lanes during the work week, on holiday weekends, and on weekends where major events are taking place locally such as the Shrimp Festival, the Concours d'Elegance, and the Gator Bowl (to name a few). However, they cannot place so many restrictions that it prevents the contractors from completing the work during the time frame outlined in their contracts. FDOT appreciates everyone's patience while they work to have this project completed on time.
As a reminder, you can locate information related to the widening project online at www.nflroads.com and for traffic alerts, you can follow FDOT on Twitter@FDOT_NEFL. Smart phone users may also wish to download the app "Florida 511" which includes current traffic conditions and travel times. The County will continue to share information here on The County Insider as it is received from FDOT. Though this is an FDOT project, the County feels it is important to share the updates to keep everyone informed about changes to traffic patterns, lane closures, and any other issues that affect our citizens.
If you ever have any questions or concerns related to the widening project, please contact Debbie Delgado, Public Information Officer for Atkins Global, at (904) 360-5437 or via e-mail at [email protected].
