Property owners at American Beach have expressed a desire for public water and sewer. In response, the County hired the Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA) to assist in identifying a cost-effective way to expand the utility lines owned by Nassau Amelia Utilities into the American Beach area.
FGUA has identified one possible funding source, the Florida State Revolving Fund (SRF) Principal Forgiveness Loan. The SRF provides funds to communities to design and build water and wastewater systems. In order to qualify for this particular funding, the County must provide proof that the community’s income level is eligible for the grant program. In order to make this determination, a household income survey must be completed.
Please be advised that between February 27 and February 29, 2020, representatives from FGUA’s subcontractor, Andy Easton & Associates (AEA), will conduct the household income survey by going door-to-door in the American Beach Community. The interviewer will ask questions about your household including names and number of residents living at the residence and annual income. The information collected will be used to determine whether the American Beach Community meets the requirements for funding from the Florida State Revolving Fund and other low-cost sources. Residents are urged to participate as this will help the County in their efforts to identify funding options needed to provide public water and sewer to American Beach property owners.
This information was shared at the American Beach Community Meeting held on Saturday, February 22, 2020. To view the flyer distributed at the Community Event, please click here.
