Happy Flag Day!
Flag day is celebrated annually on June 14 and commemorates the date that the Second Continental Congress passed a Resolution stating, "The flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white" and "that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation".
Over 100 years later, in 1916, President Woodrow Wilson marked the anniversary of the adoption of the U.S. Flag by officially establishing June 14 as Flag Day.
The U.S Flag stands for our nation and shared history, pride, principles, and commitment of the American people. When we properly display this powerful symbol, we signal our respect for everything it represents. For information on how to property display the American flag, visit www.usa.gov/flag.
