Seven new Firefighter/Paramedics recently completed an extensive 5 week training program in order to prepare them for responding to emergency calls in Nassau County. The five week course includes four 8 hour days in a classroom reviewing fire department protocols, rules & regulations, Internal Operating Procedures, and programs that emphasized on medical skills. Each new recruit is also required to complete 24 hours of ride-alongs on a fire/rescue apparatus.
Nassau County Fire Chief Matt Graves stated that "each new recruit takes basic courses in school that teaches them the skills needed to be a firefighter/paramedic. Nassau County Fire Rescue goes beyond that by providing them with extensive training specific to Nassau County's rules to insure they are prepared when entering the field".
Each new employee was recognized at a pinning ceremony that took place on Friday, April 24th. We wish these guys the best of luck in their new career!
