The Florida Fire Service now has 10 bull dozers on site digging ditches and laying sand in an effort to further contain this fire. Firefighter efforts are expected to continue for several days as wind and low humidity are still an issue. Agencies from across Northeast Florida have provided first responders and equipment to assist in this effort. Please continue to be patient! Emergency personnel are doing everything in their power to save Nassau County residents and property.
The Bryceville Baptist Church is still providing a safe place for displaced residents and Callahan Baptist Church is on standby to open if needed. In addition, the Nassau County Extension Office located at the fairgrounds has now established a shelter for displaced residents and their pets. They are also accepting pet and livestock donations. Donations of food and water are being accepted at the Bryceville Library.
Lastly, on behalf of all the emergency personnel, thank you to everyone for your kind donations of water, food and supplies, and to those individuals and businesses who have offered to board pets and livestock during this tragic time.
