I went to the FEMA website just now to try to apply for assistance because out home was hit by two trees and needs extensive repair. According to FEMA, Nassau County is NOT a disaster zone! HUH?

Unfortunately, we cannot declare ourselves as a disaster, it has to be done by FEMA. You may have seen the other post indicating that State Representative Cord Byrd and Senator Aaron Bean are currently trying to get FEMA to declare Nassau as a disaster. Anyone with damage is urged to contact the EOC at 904-548-0900. They will be making reports that will assist with our State Representatives in obtaining funding.

Representative Byrd just announced that Nassau has also received the designation so you should be able to apply now (if not then very soon).

I am disappointed... I mean we have been with out power for 9 days and lost everything in our freezers. been using a generator for basic needs and buying ice and food just to live. small amount of damage to our home. but through the whole thing not once was I directed to who or if there was any help for our family. We have home owners that was the answer I got after waiting almost 2hrs. I just don't understand where is the help?
