9/6/17 @ 4:40 p.m. - County Officials would like to take this time to remind everyone to begin securing loose items outside that could cause a hazard during the storm. Examples include grills, lawn furniture, plants, garbage cans, basically anything that could become airborne during the storm and cause damage to people's property.
Additionally, residents have expressed concerns about construction sites located near their properties. If you own or manage a construction site, please be sure to move all large equipment and dumpsters and secure any loose items to ensure they will not be a threat to surrounding homes. Nassau County's Building Official will also be placing calls to contractors to make this request.
It is expected that Nassau County will begin to feel the effects of Hurricane Irma by early Sunday morning. Please have your items secured before then.
