03/05/18 @ 4:25 p.m. - In May 2017, we notified homeowners that Nassau County had successfully completed the steps necessary to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program's (NFIP) Community Rating System. This voluntary program allows for reduced flood insurance premium rates of 10% for property owners located in the unincorporated areas of the County who reside in a Special Flood Hazard Area. This reduction can be applied to any policy issued or renewal after May 1, 2017. To read the initial release, please click here. The City of Fernandina Beach has also completed the steps needed to join the program so those residing in the City limits can also take advantage of this discount!
This Saturday, March 10, 2018, Nassau County and City of Fernandina Beach Building Department representatives will be available at the Fernandina Beach Farmer's Market from 7am to 1pm to answer questions and provide information about building requirements in our coastal community. If you are making home improvements or building a new home, this will be a great opportunity for you to find out more about flood zones, buying flood insurance and protecting your property.
