At the Monday, February 13, 2023 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution No. 2023-005 declaring February 2023 as Black History Month in Nassau County, Florida, to celebrate the cultural contributions made by black Americans in history, society and culture in both the United States and Nassau County, Florida.
This month, residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with black history by visiting one of the three local museums (A.L. Lewis Museum at American Beach, the Amelia Island Museum of History, or the West Nassau Museum of History); by participating in black history events throughout the community; and by reviewing educational resources available at the Nassau County Public Library.
The Board is pleased to celebrate Nassau County's diverse heritage and culture and will continue its efforts to create a community that is peaceful and prosperous for all.
