The event began with a welcome message by Parks & Recreation Director, Jay Robertson. Mr. Robertson expressed the County's excitement about the new dog park, and also spent a few minutes talking about the progress of Nassau Crossing Park, as well as future amenities that will be added including the soccer field, nature outlook, and splash park. Commissioner Klynt Farmer followed Mr. Robertson with another quick welcome message to those in attendance. Animal Control Officer (ACO), Marty Pruitt, spoke about pet safety and provided an overview of the park rules. He also distributed the attached pamphlet that provides insight on the activities of Animal Services including the role of an ACO, their training, and information about the shelter including volunteer opportunities and visiting hours.
Following the welcome messages, the Commissioners performed a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Then, all the dogs and their handlers were invited inside the park. The pets explored the obstacles and had fun playing chase while dog themed music played nearby. Dogs were also greeted by staff with complimentary treats. It was a great event and every dog in attendance was happy and well behaved!
