In case you missed it! Work has finally begun on the anxiously awaited County Road 108 project. There are two project areas: Middle Road to US 17 and Bay Road to Middle Road. The project scope for both segments include repaving the existing road, improved signage and road striping, and improved geometry of multiple curves.
This project has been a priority of the Board of County Commissioners for several years. Unfortunately, there were many delays that began with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic including lack of qualified workers and supply chain issues. As a result, both phases of the project had to be re-bid several times before a qualified bidder was identified.
On May 22, 2023, the Board approved a contract with Preferred Materials, Inc. for the segment from US 17 to Middle Road. Project commenced for this section on June 26th near Hilliard Middle/Senior High and has already reached Eastwood Road!
On May 22, 2023, the Board also approved a contract with Hubbard Construction for the segment from Bay Road to Middle Road. Construction on this segment commenced on Monday, July 10, 2023.
Both projects are anticipated to be complete within the next 180 days.
