At the Wednesday, February 15th Board of County Commissioners meeting, the Board approved Resolution No. 2023-008, proclaiming the week of February 26 - March 4, 2023, as Childhood Cancer Awareness Week in Nassau County, Florida.
We had two very special guests in attendance to accept the Resolution, both of which are children of Nassau County employees and have shown courage and determination in their fights against childhood cancer.
Mary is 16 year-old high school student who is currently receiving treatment for Pineal Parenchymal Tumor Pineoblastoma. Levi is a 15 year-old student who completed treatments in June 2021 for Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma. Both are pictured here with Commissioner Jeff Gray.
During Childhood Cancer Awareness Week, residents are encouraged to recognize the impact pediatric cancer has on families within our community and to honor the children who have fought childhood cancer, and those whose lives were cut short.
