2/7/24 @ 12:55 p.m.

We are excited to announce that the Board of County Commissioners will host a Groundbreaking Ceremony next week in celebration of the upcoming construction of a new Fire Station 70 to be located at the corner of Old Nassauville and Hardy Allen Roads. This new station will replace the existing station currently located on State Road 200 near the SR200/Nassauville Road intersection.

The Board awarded the bid for design/construction of the new station to ACON Construction Company, Inc. at the July 24, 2023 meeting. The new modern facility will consist of 8,453 square feet and will feature three bays with an engine, rescue unit, and tanker. It will also contain 11 sleeping quarters, four and half bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen and an exercise room.

Board Chairman John Martin stated, “The Board of County Commissioners is committed to improving the quality of life for Nassau County residents. Part of that includes proactive efforts to ensure that the health and safety of our residents is protected through adequate planning of fire stations and emergency personnel to accommodate a growing community. It’s also important that we provide the brave men and women in Nassau County Fire Rescue with a station that meets current standards and provides a safe, comfortable space to stay when not responding to emergency calls. This new station will serve the department and the community well for many years to come and we look forward to celebrating this important milestone with our residents.”

The Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at the future site located at 942456 Old Nassauville Road. The public is invited to participate. Should you have any questions, please contact Nassau County Fire Rescue at (904) 530-6600.

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA), in partnership with Nassau County, is conducting a study of public transportation opportunities in the region. Public participation is an integral part of the study and we want to hear from you! JTA will be hosting two public meetings to share information about the study and to get your feedback. Representatives will give a presentation and exhibits will be available for review. Your input will be used to help identify service improvements for future transit.
