According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 297,790 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in U.S. women, along with 55,720 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer. Although breast cancer is men in rare, an estimated 2,800 men in the U.S. will also develop breast cancer this year. There are currently more than 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S., including those currently being treated, as well as those who have finished treatment.
In remembrance of the man women and men who have lost their lives to breast cancer, and in support of those who are currently fighting the disease, every citizen is encouraged to promote breast cancer awareness. Show your support by wearing pink on Wednesday, October 25th. Businesses and/or community members can submit photos to contact@nassaucountyfl.com to be included in our post next week highlighting local support for this cause.
