Maintenance of County Roads and Associated Infrastructure
The Nassau County Road Department performs maintenance of County roads including paving, grading and application of service treatments. They also maintain drainage systems, mow right-of-ways, and ensures that roadways are free of debris for the safety of motorists.
In addition to maintaining all the County's paved roads, the Department maintains 180 miles of dirt road by grading and adding materials to keep them passable. In Fiscal Year 2021/2022, the Department completed 2,113 work orders; cleaned 15,148 linear square feet of storm drains, and cleaned 99,073 linear square feet of ditches. They also completed road striping and markings on various roads. inspected sidewalks, and grinded uneven sidewalks to minimize tripping hazards.
Did you know you can report issues regarding roads, drainage and signs online through the County's website? The County utilizes a program called Brightly which allows you to quickly file a complaint/concern and provides you with updates throughout the process from the time reported until the time the issue is resolved.
