New Software for Submitting Maintenance Requests

Nassau County, Florida, February 11, 2021 – As many of you may know, you can submit maintenance requests for county facilities and/or parks, as well as maintenance requests for road, drainage or bridge issues, through our official website, www.nassaucountyfl.com.

Currently, Maintenance Requests submitted through the website are emailed to the appropriate staff/departments, however there is no way for you to know for certain that your request has been received or to check the status of your request.

We are happy to report that beginning on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, Public Works will be implementing a new software called Asset Essentials to streamline maintenance requests and associated tasks. This new cloud-based computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) will prioritize, schedule and manage tasks and will allow technicians to monitor and track work orders on-to-go utilizing a mobile application. This will increase productivity and allow us to better serve our residents.

The most exciting feature of this new software is that Maintenance Requests are now submitted directly into the County’s work order system. The system will then generate automatic emails to you, notifying you of updates as the work progresses. Please note that this new system will require you to register with an email address in order to receive the updates.

If you have any questions, please contact Raven Jones at (904) 530-6120 or via email at rmjones@nassaucountyfl.com.

New Speed Humps on Flora Parke Boulevard

12/1/2020

12/1/20 @ 3:00 p.m. - In July 2020, Nassau County Engineering Services collected vehicular data on Flora Parke Blvd. after receiving numerous complaints of high traffic volumes and speeding. The data collected was used to determine whether the road meets the criteria for speed hump installation.

In order for speed humps to be considered, the road must have a volume between 300 and 3,000 daily trips and notable or consistent speeding in excess of the posted speed limit. Over a seven day period, daily traffic observed 1,609 trips on Flora Parke Blvd. Speed data records revealed that many were going speeds above or beyond the posted speed limit of 25mph. The lowest recorded speed was 6.6 mph, however the maximum recorded speed was an astounding 74.5 mph.

The data collected from the July study confirmed that the roadway meets the criteria for speed hump installation. On Wednesday, November 25, 2020, two speed humps were placed on Flora Parke Blvd. to increase safety on this segment of roadway. While speed humps are similar to speed bumps, they are considered to be less aggressive as they are narrower and lower in height. Speed humps are often used on streets where low speeds are desired such as in residential areas and near playgrounds.

The Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution No. 2019-25 creating the County's first Speed Hump Policy in March 2019. If you have any questions, you can contact Engineering Services directly at (904) 530-6225.
