Turtle Talk Tuesday is Back!
Sea turtle nesting season is here (May 1 – October 31), and we’re kicking off our first Turtle Talk Tuesday of the year!
We’re spotlighting highlights from our Sea Turtle Workshop on April 29, 2026, led by Conservation Land Manager Dr. Taylor Clem and co-hosted by David Hebert, Extension Agent I (Agriculture & Natural Resources). The session covered everything from identifying local sea turtle species to understanding anatomy, nesting behaviors, and how to tell the difference between sea turtles and gopher tortoises.
We’ve also included a few photos from the workshop, take a look and see these lessons in action!
Want to learn more and help protect nesting turtles?
Check out the presentation materials and start putting your knowledge into action:
• Turn off or shield beachfront lights at night
• Fill in holes and knock down sandcastles before leaving the beach
• Keep a safe distance from nesting turtles and marked nests
Every small action makes a big difference for these incredible marine animals.
Follow along each Tuesday for more turtle tips, facts, and ways you can help protect our shores this nesting season!
