Did you know that plastics can be deadly to sea turtles? Ingested plastic can cause intestinal blockages, internal injuries, and even drowning. Items like fishing lines and plastic bags can also entangle sea turtles, making it difficult for them to swim, feed, or surface for air.
The Oceanic Society, a nonprofit founded in 1969, is dedicated to protecting marine wildlife and habitats. Through conservation programs, public education, and ocean-friendly initiatives, they are helping turn the tide on threats like plastic pollution.
Their powerful video, Sea Turtles – Deep Dive, sheds light on how plastic pollution is impacting sea turtles worldwide and what we can do to help.
Residents are urged to watch the video and join the movement to protect sea turtles.
