Homesteading gives you a discount on your primary residence by lowering your assessed value by $25,000 to $50,000. This does NOT lower the actual value of your home, ONLY what you can be taxed on. It also limits the amount the County can increase your assessed value by no more than 3% each year. (non homesteaded properties are allowed to be increased up to 10%).
