A new traffic signal has been installed at the intersection of U.S. 17/S.R. 5 and William Burgess Blvd. in Yulee and has now been placed into flash mode as part of the final steps before full activation in the coming days.
Drivers should be aware of the following:
Please note: The new roadway connection east of U.S. 17/S.R. 5 remains under construction and is closed to all traffic at this time. The roadway is expected to open in the coming weeks once the signal is fully operational and remaining project items are complete.
The new signal is part of the Hornets Drive (formerly William Burgess Boulevard Extension) project, which will provide an important parallel route between U.S. 17/S.R. 5 and Miner Road to improve connectivity, enhance mobility, and help alleviate congestion in the Yulee area.
Please use caution as drivers adjust to this new traffic pattern.

- Drivers traveling through U.S. 17/S.R. 5: You will encounter a flashing yellow signal, meaning slow down and proceed with caution.
- Drivers turning left from northbound U.S. 17/S.R. 5 onto William Burgess Blvd.: You will encounter a flashing red signal, meaning you must stop, yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians traveling through the intersection, and proceed only when the way is clear and safe.
- Drivers on William Burgess Blvd.: You will encounter a flashing red signal, meaning you must stop and proceed only when the intersection is clear and safe.
