Emergency medical services have grown to fill a gap by providing important, out of hospital care, including preventative medicine, follow-up care, and access to telemedicine. The emergency medical service system includes first responders, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, emergency medical dispatchers, firefighters, police officers, educators, administrators, pre-hospital nurses, emergency nurses, emergency physicians, and other out of hospital care providers. These members of emergency medical services teams engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.
In recognition National Emergency Medical Services Week, we are re-sharing this video from May 2021 that tells the stories of two Nassau County residents who received great care from Nassau County Fire Rescue.
