Did you know? The fire tower at the entrance to Wildlight's Garden District is a tribute to Nassau County's rich forestry heritage. Inspired by the fire lookout towers that once helped protect Florida's forests, it serves as a reminder of the region's deep roots in timber, conservation, and the natural landscapes that have shaped our community.
The area’s connection to forestry runs deep. Rayonier, the company behind the Wildlight development, has a long history in Northeast Florida’s timber industry, reflecting the important role that forestry has played in shaping the region’s economy and landscape for generations.
While this tower won't be spotting wildfires, our Nassau County Fire Rescue Fire Prevention team still had an important job to do! Back in May, our Fire Inspectors conducted an inspection of the structure to help ensure it met applicable safety standards.
From honoring our past to protecting our future, we're proud to help keep Nassau County safe.
