Amelia Island Parkway/Buccaneer Trail - Weekly Update

Picture
9/18/26 @ 2:30 p.m.  - Below is the weekly update on the Amelia Island Parkway/Buccaneer Trail Roundabout Project.

Project Status:
The roundabout and trail remain open to traffic. Remaining work is lighting, punch list, and the final asphalt surface.

Upcoming Next Week:
On Monday, September 21, the new light poles will be delivered and installation will begin. The three existing poles will be deactivated, and temporary lighting will be placed at the intersection until the new fixtures are installed on the poles and energized.

Please watch for work crews and temporary lighting during this transition. The temporary lighting is being used so the intersection stays illuminated while the new system is brought online.

Continuing Work:
  • Punch list items will continue over the next few weeks
  • Final asphalt paving remains on track for the second weekend in October
  • Pole installation is being completed before the final lift of asphalt so construction equipment does not damage the finished friction course.
Thank you for your continued patience as we finish lighting, final paving, and closeout.

Nassau County Mobility Plan

2/13/2026

2/13/26 @ 11:00 a.m.

How does Nassau County plan for growth while keeping traffic moving? This video explains the County’s Mobility Plan, developed by the Board of County Commissioners to ensure new development pays for its impact on the transportation system.

For each proposed new structure, either home or business, roadway and intersection performance is analyzed to determine its impact on the local mobility network. Each affected roadway is measured against population growth and adopted level-of-service standards to identify capacity deficiencies and needed improvements. These data-driven evaluations help pinpoint where road and intersection upgrades are required, reducing congestion and supporting safe, efficient travel for residents now and in the future.
