As part of the Amelia Island Parkway & Buccaneer Trail Roundabout project, please be advised of the following upcoming traffic impacts and construction activities:
Single-Lane Closure & Truck Apron Installation (June 15–26)
Beginning Monday, June 15, 2026, Maer Construction will shift northbound traffic into the southbound lane to construct approximately two-thirds of the brick paver truck apron within the roundabout. On Saturday, June 20, traffic will shift back to the northbound lane so crews can complete the remaining apron work. Weather permitting, construction is expected to take less than two weeks.
Temporary Full Intersection Closure – Saturday, June 20
A temporary full closure of the intersection will be required on Saturday, June 20, from approximately 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM to safely complete concrete work within the splitter islands and install ADA detectable warning mats.

Traffic Detours & Management
- Southbound Amelia Island Parkway traffic will be detoured via Simmons Road to Fletcher Avenue/SR A1A
- Northbound traffic will remain open through the roundabout during apron work
- Nassau County will supplement contractor signage with message boards at the 14th Street/AIP roundabout and the Amelia City roundabout to provide advance notice and driver guidance.
- Structural asphalt on the south leg of Amelia Island Parkway is tentatively scheduled for the week of June 22, with both directions expected to reopen shortly thereafter
- Final friction course paving throughout the project area is tentatively planned for a Saturday following the Independence Day holiday weekend. Additional details will be shared once confirmed.
- The final project component will include installation of thirteen new concrete poles and streetlights to improve intersection lighting.
